Sunday begins a short string of prog metal/rock shows hitting NYC.
5/28 at DROM in the East Village you can catch the co-headliner tour finale of Imminent Sonic Destruction and Edensong. This show also sees the return of Next to None, which features the junior Portnoy on drums, who have basically been playing almost every proggy show hitting the East Coast in the last year.
But seriously, Detroit’s Imminent Sonic Destruction rocks. $15
Thursday 6/1 sees the return of Sweden’s Evergrey, which is no minor occasion. The stacked prog/power metal bill includes Greece’s Need, Ascendia, and Seven Kingdoms. $25, Webster Hall.
On 6/17, Adrenaline Mob hits Webster Hall. It’s more of an alternative/hard rock band featuring the singer from Symphony X and the senior Portnoy on drums. $15
6/25 sees the rescheduled date from Born of Osiris, who’s show got cancelled on that one day that it snowed. Volumes, Betraying The Martyrs, and Widowmaker also perform. $20+
